I had one of these fish, beautiful creatures, very spiny. The spines of the lion fish have a kind of poison [an irritant to us - though still painful] in them. I was never 'stung' by mine though I did sometimes have my hand in the tank to clean it.

@¨‘°ºO Dutçh Oº°‘¨: You must have had a pretty big aquarium. We attempted to have fishes with Celine one year and I think it took us more time to set it up than to have the fish live in it...They must have been dead within a week, mix of cannibalism (surprising when you name them Nemo, Sharkie and others) and poor water condition :D
Glad you were never stung by your lion.

Saltwater tanks are more difficult to maintain than freshwater. You are best off buying cheaper fish until the ecosystem in there stabilizes and also asking those you purchase from about compatibility. I had the lion fish, an angler, a goby, yellow tang, clowns [Nemo].. not all at once of course and then.. I had a Leopard Shark. The real deal. He died due to bad ph in the water. My goby died when I put a mini lobster in there, cannibalism ;) They were both bottom dwellers, goby went to sleep and lobster snagged him.
